One year ago, I asked friends around the world a bunch of questions about life. The answers were inspiring, raw and beautifully human. In order to give back the love I was receiving, I decided I’d anonymize and draw as many answers as I could — and so ‘Friends of Virginia’ was born.
I believe that a meaningful story told powerfully can and will reach children and adults alike. Think about 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: its message is as simple as it is profoundly true. I thrive in pursuing the balance behind these sincere, universal stories.
The Honest CV is an opportunity for each of us to write about us without mentioning our diplomas or achievements, but rather talk about where we come from and where we're going to, what humans have shaped our life and how, and what are the biggest questions we have now and we've overcome in the past.
It is a space to celebrate what makes you 'you', to escape the fancy Instagrammer inside you, your employable LinkedIn self, or your busy Facebook wall. It is a safe space for you to be frank, to reflect, and to accept whatever comes.
We launched V1 with schools and businesses as a workshop-led questionnaire of fourteen questions. Answers are meant to be short, and must not exceed 140 characters. Want to be join the movement? Based on your answers, your Honest Bio will be automatically crafted.
Often, the events we read on the media have so much noise that it has become a real challenge to try to unpack the real story behind it. I illustrate the news in an attempt to extract just what's core to the event, to make the news more accessible to all, while keeping all my sources referenced so that readers can go into more detail and depth if desired. I believe this can mark a new way of understanding what's going on in the world: cutting through the noise, and enjoying learning about complex issues in simple drawings.
Here are some illustrations on Trump's Immigration Ban (January 2017). This collection was featured on The Independent.
I design and lead workshops aimed at boosting people's creative confidence. Blindfolded art is one way to explore and create without boundaries or judgement. Here are some photos from a recent workshop in Vermont, USA.
I help impact-driven organizations and individuals tell their story in simple visuals. I work with CEOs, content creators and strategy boards to simplify a given story to retain only what is essential, meaningful and deeply resonates with the target audience.
I travel, listen to what people are saying, and then doodle what they say on my notebook. With time, I have been invited to events to illustrate what is happening as it is happening, one quote at a time.
On December 2016, I asked a bunch of humans from around the world the question "if you were granted just one wish for 2017, what would you wish for?". I then anonymized and illustrated the answers.
This is a brief compilation of these collected wishes. What I hope to do is to bring humans together through their very own reflections and goals for the near future. To me, this brings me hope about our species and our planet, and I hope it can bring each of you to a good place too.
